Monrovia, Liberia, March 7, 2025—In a significant demonstration of solidarity and commitment, the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL) celebrated International Women's Day 2025 under the inspiring theme “Accelerate Action.” The President of NOCAL, Hon. Fabian M. Lai, is one of the leading voices in supporting women in his institution.

The event took place at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Monrovia, bringing together esteemed figures, government officials, and representatives from various diplomatic missions, all dedicated to advancing women’s rights and opportunities.

Among the distinguished attendees were Liberia’s First and Second Ladies, Mrs. Kartumu Boakai and Synleseh Stephenie Dahn-Koung, as well as Senate President Pro Tempore Sen. Nyonblee K. Lawrence, a prominent advocate for women’s empowerment initiatives throughout the country.

The gathering also featured the Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection and numerous women representing diverse Ministries, Agencies, and organizations across Liberia. These leaders took the opportunity to express their commitment to creating an inclusive environment where women can excel in all sectors of society.

The event was further strengthened by the robust presence of the diplomatic community, with representatives from organizations such as United Nations Women, the Swedish Embassy, the US Embassy, and the European Union, who collectively reinforced their dedication to promoting women's rights and gender equality in Liberia.

NOCAL showcased its commitment to diversity and inclusion by having 16 women from various departments actively participate in the event. Ms. Ernestine Massey, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Officer, and Lovetee G. Kanu, Human Resources Coordinator, played essential roles in highlighting the company’s engagement in advancing the discourse on women’s rights.

The “Accelerate Action” theme emphasizes the need for collaborative efforts to expedite gender equality and empower women. It serves as a call to action for all stakeholders to work together to eliminate barriers and address women's systemic challenges worldwide.

This event reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to ensuring that women from all backgrounds have access to the resources and opportunities necessary for their success in leadership, business, and all areas of society. As Liberia moves forward, women's contributions and influence will be instrumental in shaping the nation's future.

NOCAL's dedication to gender equality is reflected in its participation in events like International Women’s Day and its ongoing initiatives aimed at creating meaningful opportunities for women within the organization.
