In celebration of Liberia’s 178th Independence Anniversary, the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL) has made a significant donation of food items in the tune of 250 bags of rice to the National Commission on Disability (NCD) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. This gesture underscores NOCAL’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and supporting the physically disabled communities in Liberia.
During the handover ceremony, Ms. Ernestine S. Massey, NOCAL’s CSR Officer, emphasized the company’s dedication to uplifting vulnerable populations. “At NOCAL, we believe that national celebrations should reflect unity and care for all Liberians. This donation is a testament to our solidarity with persons with disabilities, ensuring they are part of our Independence Day festivities,” she stated.
Mr. Samuel S. Weay, Sr., Head of National Commission on Disability (NCD), received the donation on behalf of the Commission and expressed deep gratitude for what he termed a “momentous and heartfelt contribution.” He commended NOCAL’s ongoing engagement with the Liberian people, particularly the disability community, referring to its members as “Persons with Special Abilities.” Mr. Weay also advocated for expanded opportunities, urging NOCAL to consider employment and scholarship programs for persons with disabilities to further align with President Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s ARREST Agenda for Liberia’s development and empowerment.
This donation is part of NOCAL’s CSR program… which prioritizes equity, social inclusion, education, and sustainable community development across Liberia. The company remains committed to creating a positive impact and promoting a more inclusive society for all Liberians.
